NO PIECE OF ART
IS THE SAME

My name is

Sydne Moseley

"I come from a large family of talented people in athletics and the arts! I am passionate about my artwork and how it has impacted my life and the life of others. I’ve been painting since High school, and never stopped since. It is definitely more than just painting to me. Each piece has a part of me in it. This portfolio highlights my favorite type of art, abstract painting."

"I have created a collection of abstract acrylic paintings showing how the internal organs of the human body are affected from cigarette smoking.  My motivation for this work comes from seeing the impacts of cigarette smoking in my grandfather, who passed away due to heart failure where smoking played a major role in this outcome.  In my process I took an ugly everyday habit, and what it does to the human body, and transformed those grotesque images into abstract delicacies. Bringing out the tensions of an ugly habit and highlighting the beauty of life from it."

"My paintings embodied the twists and turns the organs make once they have been damaged.  Straying away from the basic monochromatic color scale of healthy organs, I discovered bold, contrasting color relationships. From the smallest to the largest piece, the application of paint creates multiple textures and depths in them. When looking at the work it will bring mixed emotions to the audience feeling shocked, overwhelmed, and surprised at how beauty can come from the addiction of smoking."
